Phyllis Ann Brett

56 years ago today, my peaceful world of being a spoiled only child changed!! I got a SISTER!! A crying, loud, baby sister, that took my Mom away from me. All of a sudden there were Two of us vying for Mom's attention. To make matters worse, we were staying with Aunt Margie and Uncle Bob in San Diego, until Mom was able to travel, and then we were to join my Dad in Honolulu, T.H.

Phyllis was the first Baby that Dad had ever been around, and he adored her. She reciprocated and adored him back. Mom let them and I had Mom back again. :) Phyllis was so enthralled with Dad that when he was on a flight, or a deployment, she could not get to sleep unless she could sleep with Dad's dirty Boondocker. (work boot) she went to bed every night with that stinky old boot. Dad fed her the evening bottle every time he was available, and the teasing ensued. Dad was always holding the bottle just out of reach of her lips, tickling them with the nipple but not letting her grab on to it. He thought it was funny, and I guess it was.
(Turned her into a Mean little brat though)

From that time on, she always marched to her own drummer. She did things no one else would, and got away with a lot. (a lot she didn't and was always in trouble)
a rebel, a flirt, ornery as hell, and adored by her Daddy.

There was a time when I would have gladly traded her in for a brother, but alas that did not come until much much later, and by that time they decided to keep her.

she turned out ok though, just don't turn your back on her, or she will play some kind of practical joke on you. She will laugh at the drop of a hat, (or a body) and has a wicked sense of fun. The whole Island knows about her shenanigans, and some day we will all get even...Until then, Phyllis enjoy your Birthday. 56 years sure went by fast didn't it? Here's to another 40!!! :) :)
