another day...

Well, the appliance repair guy came on Friday 15 min. AFTER he said he would be there. I thanked him profusely for being on time. You know if we could charge the hourly wage for the person you are expecting BACK to them for every hour or portion thereof that they were LATE, then I will bet you a buck that they would be on time, and glad to get our business. Might even CHANGE the world.

He came in with the part in his hand that he thought he would need based on the history of that model, and 20 minutes later I had cold air flowing into my freezer. YAY!!! 24.00 for the part. 85.00 for the service call and 15.00 for the labor. so It is soooo nice to have cold milk again...and ICE CUBES!! when one is additcted to chewing ice, it is a major crisis when there are NONE to be had.

Bob got the wood project half finished before he threw his back out at the gym trying to be 45 again. SO ANOTHER unfinished project in the making. It really looks good so far though! 3" of gravel down on weed blocker cloth and then the wood ricks on top of concrete blocks on top of that. Only need a roof over the ricks now and I will have dry wood!! WHOOPEE. I will take pictures when it is done.

We had our 1 week of summer and now fall has fell with a vengeance. The wind was blowing down the Strait at 30 MPH and the rain was dumping!!! It felt good to sit and watch it storm. Should get back up into the low 80's next week. Indian Summer. I really expect the first frost in the next few weeks.

SOOOO....whatcha think of McCain's choice for VP? inquiring minds want to know.

I watched Obamas speech and was totally convinced that he was the right person for the job. GOD I hope I dont choose wrong AGAIN!!!

Weird. McCain's move, that is. It looks to me like he's trying to pick up the Hillary voters that are rabid feminists, voting only for a female candidate rather than really looking at who they are voting for and what they stand for. This is going to be an unusual election year, me thinks.

Good news on the fridge repair and good that it didn't cost an arm & a leg. Did the repairman think it would solve the problem or is it likely to occur again?

It doesn't seem possible that summer is over. I am in some ways still waiting for it to arrive.

just vote a straight democratic ticket every time and you'll never have to worry about voting wrong ever again.

Next time I have to call our repair man I'm going to give him a big hug cause he just charges $75 for a service call and that includes labor, parts are extra of course. Glad you've got a running freezer again!

I'm totally afraid of both of the choices for President this election year. Really scares me.

Have to disagree with you Mary Lou. My husband fixes major appliances, (40 years now) he will never promise a specific time..he will always tell the customer I will try for eg: 12:00PM, but the call before yours might entail much more work than he anticipated and thus he will be backed up. It's not that he does not want the business, but the call before yours for example may take much longer that expected. I guess you wouldn't realize this unless you lived in our shoes...We would love your business, but scheduling service calls (where you never know what you are going to run into) is difficult at the best of times. And no, it won't change the world...they are just people who try their best to do a job to the best of their ability. And if we could get 85.00 for a service call we would be rich. It's 35.00 here.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you too Mary Lou, but not about the repair person.

You have heard about the woman who opened her refrigerator and saw a squirrel curled up inside haven't you? "Why are you in my refrigerator?" she asked and the squirrel said, "Isn't this a Westinghouse? Well, I'm westing."

Hubby and I were watching the night Obama was going to accept, and the commentators were talking about McCain and who he would pick, and I looked at Hubby and said, "I'll bet he's going to pick a woman."
I have no idea why I thought that. It just popped in my head. And darn if I wasn't right! As to what I think about her, I haven't a clue. I don't know anything about her.

I thought it was a bunny in the fridge! Well, I'm glad you got yours repaired.

I'm really bad when it comes to politics. I get so bored with them, that I don't do my homework. It's one of my many faults. For now, I do prefer Obama.

Oh my, I've weighed in on a political question...My answer?...I like her, I'm Republican. I've been SO torn up over Both candidates...teeth nashing, torn up...don't like Either one...I'm afraid of McCains stability.....and of Obamas "ways" of doing things...just last night I was listening to the radio and heard Obama ran uncontested for his original run for the senate seat...he Did have an opponent, but his team of lawyers got the guy disqualified...Bill Clinton, in essence telling the World, "don't worry, We have Biden on the ticket with Obama..."...I don't Want Biden running the country behind the scenes....Geez...And just this morning I heard Sarah Palin's 17yr old daughter is pregnant by her boyfriend but will be getting married to the father....(hahaha) Sounds Real to me....Geez...At Least, if she Had to be President, she'd clean up the "Good-old- boy" racket, like she said she would.......
Happy all the appliances are now behaving themselves!!hughugs

Joanie, I did not write the full story about waiting for people. I was expecting a load of gravel and they said 100. I waited and waited and waited...and they showed up at 445! THAT is what I meant about being on time. If they had called and said...we are running behind, Can we reschedule...NO PROBLEM, but they are 4 miles up the road and chose to just leave me hanging there. THere is NO excuse for leaving a person weaiting for over 4 hours with NO communication.

Mary Lou..yeah I hear ya...Gord always calls if he is late. There is no excuse for that...I sure wish we could charge 85.00 bucks for a service call...holy..moly. but he might include some labour in that. Even so, that is highway robbery. But I guess the rates change wherever you live.

I like Obama very much, even tho I can't vote for him....did you really vote for Bush the last time? Oy...you have some penance to do my dear:)

I like Obama but it's always a risk to vote. It would be more of one to vote for McCain and that was true even before he picked Palin. She is a christianist and her views are very extreme for what she has tried to do and would if she had the power. I see that group as on the road to fascism with the way they combine patriotic talk with their own version of what Christ taught. It's scary. So Obama could disappoint, they all could but we are already on the Bush road and 4 more years takes us deeper into debt and wars around the world. I don't see an option to Obama because if you vote Libertarian, it is like throwing away the vote. I know what you mean though and I have voted for some that later thought what the --- how'd that happen!
