Almost Halloween

It has been an absolutely beautiful month! Sunsine and chilly. The trees are really colorful right now. We have not had our usual October Storm yet either.

Bob has filled my new wood ricks so now I have 2 cords of wood dried and ready to burn, so I wont freeze. I also have been putting up apples. A make really chunky applesauce with cranberries in it and it is really good, almost like pie filling. My kids scarf it all down as soon as they know I have some made. 1 case of apples will make about 20 qts of applesauce.

I am canning pears too,and Wednesday I took a day off and stayed home to rest, and got to looking at my filthy house, and cleaned! Never even stopped, just cleaned away. I made some applesauce that night, but then started right in on thursday canning pears. I was bringing a five gallon pot of pears down to the table where I was working them and I dropped the damn thing all over my kitchen floor. boiling hot syruppy pears and syrup. Sadie ran like hell thank you Lord, and did not get burned. It plashed onto my pants and my warm suede slippers but I did not get burned either. I was so freaking mad!!! the floor had just been cleaned! SO I grapped an armfull of old towels and got it all wiped up, but then the floor was sticky, so I had to rewash the floor with hot water to get all the syrup up. I was not in the mood to finsh, so I turned everything off, and went to bed. By this time I was in sever pain. SO I hit the Ben Gay and wenbt to bed.

Today I was still in pain, but I managed to finish the case of pears. I was going to start in on the other one, but the corner store was out of wide mouth qt jars, and they didnt have any fruit fresh either so I will do some tomorrow night after I play all day with the lighting for Peter Pan, and go eat Pho.

Ever had Pho? oh yummy!! gotta try it!

I am so sorry for your accident. That kind of thing usually happens to me when I am rushing around trying to meet deadlines. We got our small rain storm last night and our trees turn, but not as nicely as where you live.

Thank goodness you and Sadie didn't get burned. Ain't that just the way though. After everything got cleaned, not before....
Well, just glad that you are alright. Hope the pain went away, nothing worse than being in pain and losing a whole lot of pears. I love canned pears and the applesauces sounds awesome. Maybe we'll come by and try some next time we're in the neighbourhood. LOL, we were down in your neck of the woods twice this summer....
Hugs and smiles

Pho sounds just a little to close to Poo ... so no, I have never had it.

I'm glad the pears missed you and Sadie! Don't you just hate it when you do all that work and something like that happens?

I made hot pepper relish yesterday, probably too hot for me but it's a good way to get back at the males in my life. :-)

What is Pho?

Let me know how your pho is on the island. I think we need to do a comparative study on the pho of northern Puget Sound to see who has the best, cheapest, least likely to make you swell from msg.

HEY,, DO YOU HAVE TO GO OFF ISLAND TO GET YOUR FAVORITE PHO, OR ARE YOU SETTLING FOR LESSER QUALITY THAT IS CLOSE TO HOME?
I AM SO CURIOUS AS TO WHAT IT TASTES LIKE.

Are you ignoring me now? Did you know that this is probably the first time in history that the two nominees for vice president are more experienced and qualified for president then Obama. Even Dan Qual was more qualified and that's not saying much. I hope you have a wonderful day. Yours truly.

Pho rhymes with duh so it is fuh.
We went to China Harbor to get some Pho becasue no one else had it, It was nowhere near as good as what Do9nna and I had in Everett. only three pieces of beef in it. BIG bowl though. the broth was wonderful, but it took a while to get it to the table.

I can't say I've ever heard of pho. Sorry to hear of your canning mishap; that could have been very bad! How lucky that all that sticky hot stuff missed you both. You're going to appreciate that hard work this winter, though.

I have nightmares about accidents like that. I'm glad you didn't get burned, either of you.

I'm getting ready to do apples in the next day or two. It's a bit of work, but well worth the effort.

What a frustrating accident. You never want to have to clean up spilled syrup, but how great that you nor your animals were scalded. That's worse.
